March 23, 2020 - COVID-19 Operational Update

CUPS is working hard to continue to provide services to clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While we are still working to provide the majority of our services remotely by phone for the health and safety of clients and staff, we will be opening the CUPS Health Clinic for limited access.

Beginning Monday, March 23, the CUPS Health Clinic will be open for URGENT NEEDS ONLY from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday.

In order to access the facility, we ask that clients call the clinic first for health needs at 403-221-8797 or the main line for non-health needs at 403-221-8780 to determine if it’s necessary to be seen in person.

Please be advised, for the additional health and safety of everyone, CUPS will also be screening clients on entry to determine if your needs can be met on the phone or require an in person visit.

We know this is a stressful and isolating time for people and we encourage you to stay connected with your support team while maintaining social distancing. Here are some additional resources from Alberta Health Services about accessing health in tough times.

Self-assessment

For any clients concerned about having symptoms of COVID-19, please use the AHS online self-assessment tool or call 811 to speak with a nurse for guidance.

March 15, 2020 - COVID-19 Operational Update

On Sunday, March 15, 2020, the Government of Alberta officially announced that K-12 schools, child care centres and post-secondary institutes in Alberta will be closed indefinitely.

This province-wide decision aligns with an internal CUPS decision made earlier today to suspend classes at the Child Development Centre, effective immediately. This decision was made with the safety of our children, their families and our staff in mind. We cannot operate safely to minimize the risk of transmission and will remain closed until further notice.

March 11, 2020: Operational Update: CUPS’ response to coronavirus (COVID-19)

At CUPS, the safety of our staff and clients has always been and remains our top priority. We know there is a lot of information circulating about the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Canada and while the situation continues to evolve, we feel it’s important to share what we are doing at CUPS in response.

First, we encourage everyone to follow Alberta Health Services and the Government of Alberta with the most up-to-date information regarding COVID-19. While the risk or exposure to COVID-19 in Alberta is still considered low, there is always the possibility that could change in the coming weeks.

At CUPS, we are following recommendations and guidance from Alberta Health Services and Alberta Health with regards to COVID-19. Additionally we would encourage:

  • Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue) should stay home and call 811 for guidance.

  • If you have travelled anywhere outside of Canada OR have had close contact with a confirmed or potential case of COVID-19, please stay home and call 811 for guidance.

  • In the meantime, we continue to encourage everyone to:

  •  Wash your hands often and well

  • Avoid touching your face, nose or mouth with unwashed hands

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces that are frequently touched

  • Stay at home and away from others if you’re feeling ill

  • Cover your cough and sneezes and then wash your hands
