Primary Care Clinic

CUPS Primary Care Clinic provides holistic, collaborative and non-judgemental physical and mental health care to struggling low-income, high-risk Calgarians. Many of its patients are homeless and struggling to overcome complex and neglected health issues; mental health and addiction issues; and low education and health literacy rates.

The Primary Care Clinic provides critical health services to Calgary’s most vulnerable, including dental and vision care, diabetes and hepatitis C diagnosis and treatment, and onsite visits from various health specialists. The clinic also coordinates specialist appointments for those without phones, provides bus tickets to get to the appointments and works closely with specialists, urgent care centres and hospitals to ensure that patients receive the follow-up care they require.

Last year, CUPS Primary Care and Women’s Health Clinics had 5,287 patients with 35,359 patient visits, including 539 Shared Care Mental Health patients. CUPS clinics continue to be highly trusted and respected resources among patients, other agencies and service providers for their ability to address the health needs of our vulnerable and unique patient population. When patients can maintain their health, they can begin to address and overcome other barriers in their lives
