Celebrating Something Special: CUPS Employees!

“The day-to-day may be tough, but at the end of the day, you know you’re doing something good.”

Tamsin, CUPS Finance AP Lead

Think about the last time you put your heart and soul into your work. Maybe it was a special project, a presentation or maybe working to support an individual. You rolled up your sleeves and tackled your task head first. You executed the project. You nailed the presentation. You made an impact with the individual you were helping. You were proud of your work. It’s a feeling of accomplishment that is uplifting, but it’s multiplied exponentially when others take notice. The simple act of acknowledging achievement is a major boost for employee morale and performance.

Employee recognition is so critical, particularly during the challenging times of COVID-19, so this month CUPS is taking time to recognize and celebrate our incredible staff. From teachers, to operations staff, to doctors, nurses and so much in between, the CUPS team works tirelessly each and every day to build resilience and create lasting change in our community.

Meet Tamsin
Tamsin is the Finance Accounts Payable (AP) Lead at CUPS. In her role, she supports the CUPS financial team in: reviewing transactions, preparing invoices, liaising between customers and vendors, ensuring CUPS staff are paid the right amounts at the right time and provides support to customer service departments. Phew. The days are busy, but without the support of staff like Tamsin, CUPS would not be able to operate. She’s an integral part of the team and a critical element of our meeting our mission of supporting vulnerable individuals in our community.

Meet Mary
Mary is a Family Development Coach at CUPS. In her role, she supports a diverse population of clients and connects them with the required services they need to thrive. She meets with families and develops strategies to improve family cohesion, parenting skills and promote positive parent-child interactions. What’s more, she provides emotional support to families teaching home management, preventative health, nutrition and life coping skills. It’s a big job, but she feels accomplished with the impact she’s making every day. “I observe the transformation that I see in families that come to access our services… it’s always amazing and rewarding.”

Meet Megan
Megan is a Care Coordinator at CUPS who loves her job. “We have a tangible impact on people’s lives… and that’s a great feeling.”

In her role, Megan works in partnership with CUPS clients to develop care plans that are sustainable and relevant to their unique situation, linking the client to appropriate supports both within CUPS services and externally. She is responsible for creating a caring, dignified and trauma-informed experience for all guests and clients at CUPS. She directly supports the most vulnerable individuals in our community and brings hope to those who need it most.

Meet Sameer
CUPS’ Chef Sameer, a Red Seal chef, plans, preps and presents amazingly nutritious meals for CUPS, including our kindergarten classes. Keeping bellies fun and powering brains is a full time job — Sameer sometimes makes hundreds of meals a day! He hosted cooking classes for our Nurturing Parenting classes, themed “Spices,” which represented the many benefits of cooking as a family: social, physical, intellectual, creative, emotional and spiritual. His work aligns with one of our most important values: self-care and meeting one's needs. With each meal, he is building resilience for life.

Each CUPS staff member puts their heart and soul into their work and it doesn’t go unnoticed. This month — and every day — we recognize their incredible efforts and the impact they make.

Stay tuned to our social channels over the next few weeks as we continue to celebrate our special team by opening our virtual doors and sharing their amazing stories.
