Thank You for Making an Impact
It can’t be said enough. Every CUPS supporter, volunteer and donor plays a tangible role in making an impact in our community.
Last year, with your help, we were able to help close to 9,300 vulnerable Calgarians get the support they needed to build resilience and create lasting change. What’s more, generous donors contributed more than $2 million to CUPS, and over one thousand volunteers helped save CUPS thousands in staffing costs.
You’re part of building a resilient community for all, and the recent COVID outbreak has brought this impact to even greater heights.
Addressing a shared challenge
The COVID outbreak has impacted us all. While we’ve never seen anything like this before, historically, we know that the hardest hit by any developing crisis are those who are already well entrenched in one of their own. Over the year, we have seen new barriers and sources of stress emerge for clients that have affected their ability to build resilience: an increase in health concerns, mental health challenges, isolation, poverty, food insecurity and domestic violence.
For many, these impacts compound with the challenges they were already experiencing. They have required additional support and care coordination, and an integrated care approach that reduces sources of stress, mitigates their fight or flight responses and provides them with the building blocks they need to increase their resilience.
As we look back on the year, we understand how they need CUPS now, more than ever, and we are grateful to the community or supporters who have helped us stretch our resources, ensuring no one is turned away.
Looking to the future
Despite our best efforts, we know that the future will bring additional challenges and we must look ahead to ensure CUPS is set up to continue this important work in the new year.
We understand that many of you may be experiencing challenges yourselves, that time is precious and that every dollar counts. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and want you to know that with your volunteer time, or your generous donation, your contributions are going directly to helping these important community members. You are helping prevent them from returning into a cycle of poverty and maintaining the foundation of resilience they’ve built.
You’re making an impact.
As we look toward 2021, consider donating to CUPS and be part of making the coming year our most resilient one yet.
