Building community engagement through incentive program
Incentive programs are designed to build loyalty. They keep people engaged and connected with an organization or service provider. But these programs don’t have to just be about spending money to earn money. Sometimes it’s about actions instead.
At CUPS, an incentive program in partnership with Calgary Dollars is focused on building community pride.
Partners build community
CUPS partnered with Calgary Dollars in 2018 to create CUPS Bucks (C$) to incentivize certain tasks and programs within. The goal is to encourage tenants to attend events, and participate more in their community with a little extra motivation.
CUPS Bucks or Calgary Dollars are digital currency that is used in lieu of federal currency or in partnership with federal currency.
Tenants who attend events or carry out tasks related to their program or building are rewarded with C$, which they can then use to buy items from CUPS Community Developers, who have partnered on the program to purchase things such as laundry kits, cleaning kits, bus tickets or gift cards.
Other community organizations are also getting on board. A partnership with the mobile grocery store Fresh Routes, means clients can purchase vegetables with C$ instead of regular cash.
Tenants are being rewarded for their hard work instead of just being given a hand out. But they are also getting an educational opportunity at the same time. Calgary Dollars not only assists with registering clients for the program, but they provide financial literacy education for them as well.
How clients can sign up
Accessing the program has never been easier. CUPS clients can click here and get started right away.
There’s also an app for both iPhone and Android that is available so tenants can take the rewards program wherever they go.
