The Power of CUPS Nurturing Parenting Program

This video focuses on a CUPS participant, Silest, a mother of two. Silest dropped out school at 16, left home and ended up in an abusive relationship. Following the birth of her second child, she left the relationship and thereafter enrolled her daughter at CUPS One World Child Development Centre.

As part of the parent education, Silest enrolled in CUPS Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP). NPP and the relationships she developed in the program taught her about parenting and helped her developed enough self esteem to return to school.

Assistance from the CUPS Lorraine Melchoir Bursary has helped her stay in school by helping with childcare and food costs.

Currently, she is completing high school, is on the Dean’s List and intends to pursue a career in the medical field. Her children are happy, healthy and excited by their mother’s success.
