The newest program available at CUPS is Rapid Exit, a comprehensive housing and housing-support initiative for families and individuals.
Rapid Exit aims to accelerate the recovery process by employing the notion of ‘housing first’. Borrowing from successful re-housing models in the United States, Housing Locators assess the applicant’s barriers to stable housing and then work with the applicant to create a sustainability plan. Understanding that people must have stable housing before they can truly begin to overcome the barriers they face, Rapid Exit works with more than 60 property managers and landlords to find an appropriate housing solution for every applicant.
Once the landlord and tenant have reached an agreement, the Rapid Exit staff continues to support their relationship through periodic visits to the tenant’s home and regular meetings with the landlord. Any concerns raised by either party are quickly addressed ensuring the stability of housing for the tenant and the security and comfort of the landlord.
Our tenancy retention rate is over 80%.
The Rapid Exit program plays a significant role in Calgary’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.
