Welcome to Parenthood project receives provincial funding

On May 22, 2014, Honourable Manmeet Bhullar, Minister of Alberta Human Services, announced that the Welcome to Parenthood (W2P) project will receive $500,000 in provincial funding over two years. The project will support vulnerable parents by connecting them with trained parent coaches and mentors to help them learn parenting skills and manage stress.

Dr Karen Benzies, Professor of Research in Child and Family Health is the lead W2P researcher. For over a decade, Dr Benzies has partnered with CUPS to document and increase the impact of CUPS child and family programming. Minister Bhullar announced the funding at an event held at CUPS.
