CUPS One World Children Become Angels In The Lives Of Other Children
If you were to ask children from CUPS One World Child Development Centre what they’ve been up to lately, you will probably hear something like; “raising money”. Before you start asking questions as to whether these kids are part of CUPS Fund Development Team, kindly read on. Children from CUPS One World have been busying themselves in activities such as baking cupcakes, cookies and mixing up lemonade for their “Pennies for Pencils” campaign drive. The “Pennies for Pencils” campaign drive was adopted by children from One World as a way to assist kids in other countries like Niger, in Africa. The children from CUPS One World were fascinated to learn that in some schools in Niger, the children had only one pencil which they all had to share among themselves. Communicating by mail, the staff and kindergarteners from One World were able to establish relationships with a group of school children in Niger. On June 2nd, CUPS One World kids decided to set up a lemonade stand for the kids of Niger. They raised $400 dollars to be sent to the children in Niger through the “Pennies for Pencils” program. Needless to say the children enjoyed the experience of baking and mixing lemonade but more so, they had the opportunity to learn about charity and giving to others. It is amazing how these kids are learning to give in spite of their own little personal needs. “We were very pleased with the outcome of this project and we are looking forward to next year’s” said a staff member.
