Christmas in January
For many people, January is the month of reckoning on Christmas spending. Many of us are tightening our financial belts, and the first month of the year can seem bleak in comparison to the spirit of generosity that fills December. A long winter is still ahead, and it can be a trying time for less fortunate Calgarians. In response to these challenges, CUPS & Knox United Church hold an Annual Christmas Dinner—after Christmas. This year, the catering staff of the Hyatt Regency Calgary provided a holiday meal with all the trimmings for up to 400 guests. Dozens of community volunteers provided service, hospitality and good cheer. Jeff Pilon, Calgary Stampeders Player Representative for CUPS, joined fellow offensive linemen Tim O’Neill and Jon Gott in visiting the guests at Knox United Church’s gymnasium. Michelle Cameron, CUPS Manager of Fundraising Initiatives and Alberta’s first Olympic gold medalist, also shared her good cheer with the guests.
