H1N1 Preparations Continue at CUPS
CUPS Health & Education Centres have been working with Alberta Health Services since January 2009 in preparing to meet a serious outrbreak of H1N1 influenza in Calgary. CUPS treats many low-income patients who have special health challenges, and we continue to work for the health of some of our most vulnerable citizens. CUPS stresses education and training in preventing the spread of influenza. Measures include encouraging frequent handwashing, covering coughs or sneezes with sleeves, regular wiping of working surfaces with disinfectant cloths, and the wearing of masks when treating influenza patients. More information is available through www.albertahealthservices.ca and Health Link: 403-943-5465. CUPS is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome poverty. Our programs focus on health care and education to address the root causes of poverty and achieve lasting solutions. Among a wide range of medical services available to low-income Calgarians, CUPS Health Clinic offers primary care on an appointment or walk-in basis. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 8am – 4pm , and Saturday, 9am – 1pm (closed statutory holidays, and Saturdays on long weekends). For more information on CUPS Health Clinic, click here.
