Due to funding constraints CUPS will be suspending the Dental Clinic and all of its programs effective this month of April. The team at CUPS plan to take this upcoming fiscal year to explore other funding models and strategies to re-open a more sustainable Dental Clinic in the future.
The last dates for the CUPS Dental Clinic are as follows:
April 9 – Saturday extraction clinic
April 23 – Saturday extraction clinic
In light of the suspension of Dental services, CUPS will also be suspending the Saturday Medical Walk in Clinic after April 30th, 2016 due to security and logistical reasons. We will be exploring other after hour options for our clients.
Where can patients go for dental services?
For restorative work for those who have coverage through AB works/AISH/NIHB, patients can actually go to a dentist in the community, although they may have to phone around to a few places to ensure that clinic takes patients with these plans.
For extractions for those who have no coverage, they can go to Sheldon Chumir Dental Clinic (6th floor) directly. They are open Monday to Friday. They will also see patients with no coverage who need other dental work done as well. For more information about their program please click here.
Thank you to all of our community partners for your support and patience. We know that these changes have a direct and negative impact on our patients’ health and wellbeing and again, we hope this is all just a temporary suspension so that we can explore more sustainable options.
