CUPS currently operates three housing programs: Key Case Management, Graduated Rent Program, and Community Development. CUPS adopts a housing first philosophy which provides housing stability to participants so that other causes of poverty in their lives can be focussed on. Learn More
CUPS Supports programs provide sustainability to struggling Calgarians. Supports programs prevent homelessness, provide crisis management, referrals, and educational bursaries. They also increase physical and mental health through nutritional education and help participants with filing their taxes.
The client in transition program is a one- time help of $400 used as damage deposit or for first month’s rent. This program is meant for people who have low incomes and are moving into an apartment. This program does not help with unpaid or over-due rent. Learn More
Current taxes are required to apply for social assistance benefits. CUPS offers tax clinics to help complete taxes. Clinics are offered monthly through out the year. In February, March and April, clinics are offered on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Good Food and Nutrition Program
The Good Food and Nutrition Program educates individuals and families on the health benefits of good diet, proper nutrition, the importance of food skills, and how to afford healthy food on a low income. The program’s nutritionist coordinates with CUPS health, education, and housing managers to create programs and events tailored to the needs of CUPS participants.
