CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1989 with the aim of helping people overcome the challenges of poverty and attain brighter futures. Since then, our work has evolved and expanded to include services in Health, Education and Housing that are delivered to thousands of adults and families each year.

CUPS believes that the science of building brains and resiliency is essential to the work of helping adults and families achieve self-sufficiency and needs to be applied in all their practice. Advocating at a systems level to reduce barriers to services among CUPS target population is also critical to how CUPS works that assists adults and families in Calgary living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events to become self-sufficient.

CUPS’ has an immediate 1.0 FTE opportunity for a Housing Locator within our Key Case Management Services department.

 (1.0 FTE position 37.5 HRS/WEEK – 5 days/week Mon-Fri, some evening and weekend availability)                  

Reporting to the Manager – Key Case Management, the Housing Locator/Landlord Liaison will actively engage community resources to recruit landlords to participate in our Housing service which will assess families and singles with their needs and place them in rental units. This position will also act as a support for landlord/tenant relationships and work collaboratively with our Key Case Managers to build a seamless transition for our clients accessing this housing service.

The successful candidate will possess a post secondary certificate or diploma in a Humanities related area or equivalent combination of education and experience and understand poverty and homelessness as well as a flexibility, maturity, and willingness to work with people of all life circumstances. The individuals will also possess excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. A solid understanding of Housing First and its principles along with an understanding of the Landlord and Tennant Act with database management a definite asset. The assignment will require collaborative planning and will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team. This position requires the applicant to have a functional vehicle with a valid driver’s licence.
