Administrative Assistant

CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1989 with the aim of helping people overcome the challenges of poverty and attain brighter futures. CUPS believes that the science of building brains and resiliency is essential to the work of helping adults and families achieve self-sufficiency and needs to be applied in all of their practice. Advocating at a systems level to reduce barriers to services among CUPS target population is also critical to how CUPS works that assists adults and families in Calgary living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events to become self-sufficient.

CUPS has and immediate need for the role of Administrative Assistant – 1.0 FTE

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for maintenance and development of office systems and practices within the entire organization that support integration. The Administrative Assistant is to perform a variety of administrative tasks including but are not limited to: designing and providing support on use of office systems for CUPS staff, guest flow to the admin team and additional support to the Executive Assistant as required, while constantly seeking more efficient ways to get things done. The Administrative Assistant promotes CUPS in positive and friendly communication both within and external to the organization. The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Executive Assistant and will be a critical change agent in supporting the execution of the CUPS Strategic Plan 2016-2021.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related area and at least three years of experience in a professional office environment
  • Self-motivator; ability to acknowledge, assess and address gaps, as well as recognize and respond when tasks require attention
  • Exceptional ability to focus on multiple inputs simultaneously and organize appropriately
  • Refined interpersonal skills and ability to communicate appropriately
  • Positive approach that facilitates team building and problem solving
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Good understanding of CUPS clients, staff and programming
  • Understands and is aligned with CUPS philosophy around trauma informed practice and utilizing brain science to support moving clients to self-sufficiency
